Tamarak Day Camp has a tradition of excellence dating back to 1946. We have established a reputation for providing: the finest programs, with a special emphasis on swimming, magnificent grounds and facilities, and enthusiastic, highly trained staff.
Our program provides a safe, fun camp experience, emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, respect for the environment and encouragement of group skills. Your children will have a great time at Tamarak and experience the satisfaction of improving their skills, learning to try to do their best and helping others. This is the Tamarak spirit. The staff at Tamarak is exceptional and we have an excellent staff to camper ratio. All of our head counselors are teachers as are many of our group counselors and specialists. Lucia and Dave are responsible for directing all aspects of camp. They are also certified camp directors with the American Camping Association. Lucia has her B.A. from the University of Iowa in Elementary Education and her Master's degree in Administration / Supervision from National-Louis University. Lucia has been a fourth grade teacher in Lincolnshire School District 103 and a core instructor in the Master of Education program at National-Louis University. Lucia is also the director of Tamarak Country School. Dave has his B.A. from the University of Iowa and his Master's in Management from National-Louis University. He has extensive experience in staff training and development, and considerable volunteer experience working with children. Dave also serves on the board of directors for the Illinois Section of the American Camping Association.
